Acclaimed writer and filmmaker Ramin Bahrini directs his fifth feature film – following the likes of Goodbye Solo (2009) and At Any Price (2014) – about the struggling aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, which saw the breakdown of the real estate market, the drop of stock markets and rise of homeless American citizens.
Andrew Garfield stars in the main role of Dennish Nash, a young father and struggling construction worker who continues to gain any work in his home city of Orlando, Florida. After his home is forced foreclosure, Dennis, his son Connor (Noah Lomax) and his mother Lynn (Laura Dern) are forced to leave their family home and move into a broken down, packed motel room.
Dennis soon meets successful businessman and real estate broker Nick Carver – played by Michael Shannon in a Golden Globe-nominated performance – who offers his help, but at a price.
